Oundle on Show - Peace Celebrations

Oundle Town Cricket Club, Milton Road, Oundle PE8 4AG

11:00AM-3:00PM

In July 1919, to celebrate the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, which marked the formal ending of World War One, the good people of Oundle organised a sports day on the Cricket Ground. Games were many and varied and, as well as including a sack race, a tug of war, and an egg and spoon race, there was also the rather more mysterious Driving Competition in which a lady [was to] drive a blindfolded gentleman 100 yards, avoiding obstacles! To mark this historic centenary, we are going to re-create these celebrations which will also include music from Yarwell & Nassington Brass Band and Oundle Fringe. Food and drink stalls will help fortify you for the events!
